Benefit for Mike & Laura Schwandt

9/30/10 | Matt Bergheger

Mike & Laura Mae Schwandt

10/4/10: Update | Deb Borndahl

As of 6:00p.m. on Saturday, we have raised $1,733.00 for Mike & Laura.

Mike and Laura were there and they were touched by the generosity, love & support shown by everyone. Laura is very thin, as of right now I'm guessing around 100#, but taking everything on with a positive attitude. That is amazing for everything she has been through.

It was cold & windy, but everyone that came enjoyed themselves, especially the kids. I wish you could have seen some of their faces, it was priceless.

A very long day, but worth every minute. This will help them keep the hospital at bay for a while.

/Deb

Editors note:
If you missed the fundraiser, you can still mail a donation to:

Mushers helping a musher

On May 30, 2009, Laura Mae Schwandt fell from their 2nd story airing porch. She was taken to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee by Flight for Life.

Her diagnosis was bleak. She had encountered a broken sternum, 6 broken ribs, 6 fractured vertebras, a punctured lung and internal injuries. After an extended stay in the hospital, with many surgeries and continued therapy, in April of 2010, Laura was diagnosed with throat cancer and has under gone chemotherapy and radiation. Their medical bills have accumulated beyond their means.

On Saturday, October 2nd, Jim & Judy Feyen are heading up
an Open House at their Siberian Outpost,
N9103 County W Malone, WI 53049 | (920-960-4252) | debborndahl@charter.net
to help Mike and Laura Schwandt with the medical bills.

Donations can be mailed to:

Jim & Judy Feyen
N9103 County W Malone, WI 53049

Mike and Laura have helped many children with life threatening illnesses get their wishes granted through “Can’t Depend on Snow” and the Make a Wish Foundation. Now it’s our turn to help them.
