Started mushing in 1998. Kennel of AKC Alaskan Malamutes and Alaskan Huskies. Our primary focus is sprint racing with some middle distance events. We participate in sled dog promotions to organizations large and small. We are present and past board member of various sled dog clubs and organizations (within Michigan and Alaska). Beyond the mushing, we strive to share the life style of mushing with the general public while educating them about the working bred dog. We are actively involved in providing resources to mushing clubs (we just don’t show up and run). In addition we always try to help new mushers and dog owners.

Experience:
We breed, raise and train Siberian Huskies. I have had the dog sledding addiction for about 15 years now, and started recreationally with a strong lean toward winter camping with my dogs. I do not claim to be an expert, but have picked up a few things along the way...experience is a great teacher, but so are all of the wonderful mushers I've met and gotten to know over the years. Several years ago, I started sprint racing and last year Ted began racing too. I do want to get into mid-distance racing this winter. I have had many, many years training and working with animals and it has always been what I enjoy doing best. I have taught a couple of classes for beginning mushers, stressing dog care and kennel management as well as the basics for dog sledding. Ted and I also build dog sleds and enjoy helping and encouraging people entering this "lifestyle".

We have been raising and racing distance sled dogs for 8 years. We pride ourselves on the fact that nearly all 70 of our Alaskan Huskies we have lovingly raised from puppies. We feel that racing and training sled dogs should be nurturing to both the dog and the musher. We pride ourselves on upholding outstanding dog care standards in every aspect of kennel life. Ed has raced in the Grand Portage 330, Beargrease 150, and UP 200; several of our dogs finished Iditarod 2000. Tasha raises and trains many of the puppies, and does a great deal of skijor racing. Tasha's teaching career has provided us the opportunity to do many educational programs about mushing for both children and adults. We would be delighted to share our knowledge about racing, training, and effective sled dog programs with you.
