Conditions:
Initially lower elevations were hard packed with a few spots of gravel showing through with deep powder over the rest of the course - some dogs disappearing into the powder during pre-race practice sessions!
Overnight the snowmobile groomer went out over the trail so everything was hard packed with a few more gravel spots and ridges showing through at lower elevations. Our only problem was that the groomer blew a hose and remained blocking our course between check points 1 and 2 so we had to build a chute around it the morning of the race - not exactly what I'd planned to do that morning!
It was a bright day Saturday during the first part of the race with the cloud cover clearing and some melting taking place.
A clear sky overnight hardened the course and made the track even faster on Sunday. A good race was had by all. Adrian
