Backcountry Recreation Area put on the Fourth Annual North Country Freight Race on
February 1, 2003.
Our Fourth Annual Fun Race was a great success with seventeen teams of various northern breeds (e.g. Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies) racing in three freight classes over a rugged and picturesque network of trails, and a junior division over a fast ¼ mi straightaway. Each freight team had to carry 40 lb. per dog in harness.
