Candidate for Alaska Governor win's Annual Rookie Race
Lt. Governor Fran Ulmer took home top honors during the annual Kuskokwim 300
Rookie race this Sunday in Bethel. The annual event features musher's with no prior race
experience. Ulmer won the 7 mile 5 dog event edging out Madison Lee, a break dancer from
San Francisco who was visiting Bethel for the annual Cama'i dance festival, by the length
of one dog. Seven rookies competed in this year's race which historically is the last dog
race of the season.
