SDC 2002: Aurora Dog Mushers Points Race 3 Results

Weather conditions: 50/50 broken sky, very "slight" (0-5mph) wind from the North, temperature 27 F.

Trail conditions: Due to weather earlier in the week, trail was drug with screen fixed to drag and weighted. This loosened the surface. Three screening passes were made to break up the corn snow into finer particles. Race surface was "processed" snow with a bit of corn snow mixed in. The result was an inch of cushion atop a hard surface trail.

Sledding conditions: Fast trail. Loose top layer kept the trail from being really fast but the surface was non-abrasive to the dog’s feet.

Point of Note: Trail survived another "spike" of warm winds and 40F temperatures. Fortunately temperatures cooled the day prior to the race allowing significant trail work to be accomplished.
