Press Release - United States Federation of Sleddog Sports

June 15, 2016 – The Board of Directors of the US Federation of Sleddog Sports (USFSS) met together to fill two vacancies on its board. Out of a field of eight exceptional nominees, elected to fill the vacancies were Evelyn Beeter of Gakona, Alaska, who will fill Carol Kaynor’s term which expires in the summer of 2019, and Steven Fox of East Greenville, Pennsylvania, who will fill the term of Scott Farmer, which expires in the summer of 2017.

Beeter not only brings a voice for those in our 49th state, but she also is a seasoned administrator of Athabascan heritage. Her experience in managing Native Alaskan programs and administering grants for community-based training and organization will be an added bonus for USFSS. A graduate of Glenallen High School in Alaska, she comes to USFSS with an Associated Applied Science degree from the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

In addition to her busy administrative responsibilities, Beeter maintains a kennel of racing sled dogs, which she has had for the past twenty-something years. She has experience in putting on races and securing sponsorships and is interested in promoting sprint racing since, in Alaska, the distance sector of our sport seems to have gained precedence.

Besides being a voice for Alaskan mushing interests, she will also serve on USFSS’s race committee, whose purpose is the development and administration of USFSS’s World Cup race circuit and Continental and National Championships.

Steven Fox will give an added voice for the mushing community in the East. He has also agreed to serve on the USFSS marketing and promotion committee, whose purpose is to develop sponsorship, create promotional material, handle uniform design, and pursue vendor selection.

Fox has been engaged in the sport for the past fifteen years. From Maine and Quebec to the Midwest, he has been an outstanding competitor. He began as a mid-distance competitor but switched to unlimited class and has continued in the limited classes, where he is currently racing an 8-dog team. With an M.A. in business administration, he is currently a partner and CEO in the Alliance Wealth Management Group, Alliance Accounting Group in New Jersey. He has a wealth of experience in marketing and management in the financial sector and will bring this vast expertise to USFSS.

USFSS is honored to have on its board of directors these two exceptional new people. USFSS welcomes them and thanks them for their willingness to serve as we grow our sport.
