The second annual Pinedale Sled Dog Classic, organized by Rusty Wilsey with many willing volunteers, took place last weekend with about 15 teams participating on a very cold, crisp morning at the Upper Green parking lot. Dogs, mushers and observers all wore big smiles with great snow and cool running temperatures for the two, three, six and 12-dog packs.
Alix Crittenden won both days’ 12-dog races of 22 miles each with a total time of 2:53.27; Greta Thurston from Oak Creek, Colo., was second with 2:59.15 and local musher Amanda Bartlett took third with 3:27.03.
