2017 IFSS World Championships!
2017 IFSS World Championships! - Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve, Ontario, Canada
Canada’s 150th Celebrated with a BARK!

To ring in Canada’s 150th Birthday CAHDS http://canada-mushing.ca/ and Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve Ltd. http://www.haliburtonforest.com in Haliburton, Ontario partnered up and thought you can’t get much more Canadian then hosting a dog sledding event. So in true Haliburton Forest fashion, “Go big or go home!” we will be hosting the 2017 International Federation of Sleddog Sports (IFSS) Winter World Championships. You heard me right. Basically, Ontario will be home to the Olympics of dog sledding January 24 to February 1!

Over nine days we will see 22 different classes of races, with over 20 countries represented by approximately 150 teams and 1,200 dogs.

There will be opening and closing ceremonies, Musher Banquets, onsite food vendors, toboggan hill, etc…

How can you be witness to these events? Simple! You can join us as a spectator and view the races from the start/finish line, along the start/finish shoot as well as from MacDonald Lake. BUT why not be part of the team that made this event possible.

Over the course of the event we estimate that we will require approximately 40 to 60 volunteers a day. Volunteer positions include but are not limited to:
