2018 U.P. 200 Finish

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - The U.P. 200 finished Sunday February 18 at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

Taking off from the final checkpoint in Wetmore Down for the final leg was Denis Tremblay in third, Keith Aili in second and Martin Massicotte in first.

But according to officials, the trails were exceptionally fast this year, and the mushers were very competitive.

In the last stretch into Marquette, Keith Aili was able to overtake Massicotte, and hold on to the lead right to the finish.

"Yea I was leaving there in second place last night, it was close though because third place was right behind me too," 2018 U.P. 200 Winner Keith Aili said. "So I'm happy, really happy."

2017 U.P. 200 winner Denis Tremblay started third from Wetmore Down, and happily overtook his friend Martin Massicote who started the final leg in first.

"I pass Martin ten miles to here, I come in the snowmobile track and I see Martin and I thought Ohhh, maybe I have a chance to pass Martin," U.P. 200 Second Place Finisher Denis Tremblay from St. Michel des Saints, Quebec.
