I just got off the Copper Basin Trail. Paul passed me about 20 miles befoe he scratched. His dog team looked fine. I believe that possibly he was running a yearling team and just decided when the team went far enough and still go home with a positive attitude. I have heard he has done this before (must be nice to be able to afford that!). Anyways I also heard another rumor that his ankle was bothering him. Please keep in consider that I do not claim any of this to be absolutely true except the part about his team looking good when they passed me. These are just things I heard around the trail.
