One thing I've had really good luck with are what I call rice cupcakes. I make rice with a touch of honey and raw ground beef. I mix in some other ingredients sometimes like a touch of garlic instead of the honey. but the main ingredient is water. I mix it all up and put it in muffin tins and pop them in the freezer. When frozen run hot water over them take them out and place them in freezer bags. I do this in my spare time so I have a good stock of them and then I toss acouple of them in the sledbag for training runs and races. The tins hold eight muffins and I run eight dogs so I always have plenty for everybody. Sometimes I make them out of race meat and I sometimes add folic acid and zinc per a vets advice. The dogs inhale these and I really see a comback. The rice can prevent trail diarrea and holds a lot of water which releases slowly. I have one dog that use to dehydrate badly but hasn't since I started feeding these. You can also add such things as Canine Red cell if you wish. I tried it last year and wasn't to crazy about it so stopped.
