We fed Eukanuba for about 5 years during race seasons with excellent results. We were swearing by it. There was no better dog food on the market! I the summer we used to feed a "lower grade" dog food made by Eagle. This fall when we switched back to Eukanuba we were shocked. We new many mushers started to have problems last winter but we never saw enything bad. I guess our food last year came from the "old batch". This fall after coming back from 3 mile run the dogs had bloody runny stool! You would think that it can happen only while feeding some cheap low quality food, not Eukanuba. Some dogs also had loose stool in the dog yard while not running. We also saw big increase in the stool volume. The manufacturer swears that the changes in the formula were done to improve the dog food. Bull s... Eukanuba and IAMS made it to the level of "supermarket" dog foods. You can not train and race a competitive team on dog food like that. We were very disipointed. Now we feed Blackwood 2000 and we are very happy. Just by adding little bit of meat + fish meal + oil, this dog food meets all our requirements. The price is also very reasonable. We are recently running 14 miles (sprint). Blackwood 7000 is even better quality dog food. You don't have to feed meet to go with it at all. But it is pretty expensive. I don't want it to sound like I am making a promotion for Blackwood. I am just happy we found substitute for Eukanuba. By the way, I heard that the formula for Blackwood was put together by the person who came up with the original Eukanuba recepie.
