Judy, We raise our pups similar, just not allowing any bickering. However every year we borrow some yearlings from another musher. It usually works out well for both of us. Except this year one of the dogs we borrowed has such attitude that he literally nails the dog next to him as we're hooking him up. He's not really fighting, just so excited he chews on the dog next to him. We have him next to a mellow dog to avoid fights and we hang onto him until it's time to go, but it's hard to get from him to the ATV without problems. At this point I'm glad he's not mine so that I can give him back whenever I want. He's quite a switch from our really mellow dogs and although he's a nice working dog, I don't think he's what I want in my yard. We're supposed to be getting him ready for open class racing, but I'm not sure he'll have the patience to wait for an open team to get ready. He'd make a great dog for a six dog team, but I think he will require a handler until leaving the chute. Tok has a rule that any dog fighting in the chute will be disqualified from the race.
