Well Im going to try not to ruffle anyones feathers here but Im sure I will. So here goes...
I have an open pen. I have 7 siberians in an open pen right now. 2 Malamutes in a different pen, and my new mom and her 6 pups in their own pen of course. Anyhow, my dogs get excited to see us and of course growl and whatnot with each other, but very very rarely is there a fight. If there is it is momentarily. I chain all the dogs, even the 2 malamutes, at feeding time. The dogs all know their chaining place and go there when I get to their spot. They know that it is feeding time. I also chain them when I am loading dogs. So you asked if anyone has had success with an open pen... and yes I have. About every 4-6 months I need to electrify the fence for about a week, and htey stop chewing on it. I want to make it clear that I dont disrespect people that teather, that just isnt my choice right now, and I will admit that some time in the future with more dogs Ill have to do that. Im not against it at all as long as it is done properly.
