I started out training with a three wheeled ATV. This is a bad idea, even with as few as 5 or 6 dogs. We bought a 4 wheel ATV 2 years ago when we switched from sprint to mid-distance and I'de never go back to carts or whathave you. The only thing I would stress is that alot of ATV's require that the engine be running if the wheels are turning. It'd be a shame to buy a brand new ATV and leave the smoking remains of the transmission in the ditch... I use a stiff bungy/shock cord between the gangline and the bumper to make sure the dogs are pulling. It's also easy to start out training too fast when using a nice comfy ATV, so i installed a cheap bicycle speedometer to make sure we don'y burn anybody out. So theres my 2 cents- hope it helps, good training!:)
