David you ask better questions now then lots I know who have done it for decades, just give yourself time, and enjoy it along the way.

Ref two or single leaders, it depends on the leaders, some do well alone others want a partner. For sure they need to be faster then the wheels, have you tried one of the wheels up with the leader? Just to boost it along?

I dont know what kind of booties you are doing, I have seen some advertised that have excellent straps on them, check some of the equipment sites on SDC advertising booties, the vendors will normally give sound advice on what they sell.

My own Mals never needed booties so thats a new subject to me also.
