I keep my dogs on heartworm preventative year-round. I use Intercepter flavor tabs. Not only does it prevent heartworms, but it controls adult hookworm, removes and controls roundworm and whipworm. It has no effect on tapeworms though. I've found it cheaper and easier to control worms this way. I've luckily had no problems with tapes. My mother (who raises Chows) uses the same thing but she swears she still sees whips in their stool occasionally. I've had no problems with it though. Ask your vet about it. Anyone else had any problems with Interceptor?
