I have a neutered Alaskan that has a hard time keeping weight on, too. We feed First Mate 32/20 and supplement with meat mix, and Power pac when we are running. Some dogs just have a higher metabolism than others, just like people. Plus, with a bigger dog like that, he probably needs a little extra. So you may want to feed him straight Eagle. With our guy, we also add some energy pac in with his food and this usually does the trick. Also, probios is a good additive to help aid with digestion. We've found that just adding a 1/2 teaspoon of probios and a 1/4 cup of energy pac to our male's food does the trick(with first mate, we don't have to add probios, it already has it in the food). However, I have heard of many other additives, foods, etc. You also might want to think about adding some fat(meat) to his diet. Or sometimes just adding an extra 1/2-1 cup of food will do the trick.

Good luck with him!! :o)
