I tend to agree with ajm. Up here in Fairbanks, we don't really start with the added fat until the temps drop down below 0(or the training starts getting heavy). The dogs just don't need it, especially if you are feeding a quality kibble that is high in fat and protien. Plus, when we were in Montana, we used to always get the beef fat/scraps from a meat packer. So there was always a ready supply. Some of my dogs would bury the fat, let it sit for a day or three, then dig it up and eat it. Probably like Old Musher said, let it rot a bit. I've never tried the rot method, so I guess my dogs were doing it themselves!! Anyway, I would just lay off the fat for a while, then try again as temps dropped. Of course, that was also in Montana, where there was always a lot of beef scraps/fat to be had.
Good luck!! :o)
