Neckline destruction is a real concern, especially since the gangline is right next to the neckline & surely the next thing for the dogs to start in on. I really have had great success with bitter apple spray. That stuff is really nasty. Some animals like Tobasco sauce. They think it's flavoring for the lines just like we do and I'm not sure their taste buds work the same as ours.
If the dog just will not stop chewing no matter what then I will go with cable neck lines, but we've only had to use them once. I may have another candidate this year. I'm going to try Iron rope before I go to cable. Although they can still chew it, it takes a bit longer.
I still feel the best way is to prevent it in the first place. That's why my entire line is soaked in Bitter Apple before I ever hook up my pups for the first time. Once they start chewing it's a real bugger to stop. I also soak my puppy harnesses until I am sure they are not going to chew them. Never the less I still have one dog that I can't harness until we're ready to put him in team. He doesn't seem to eat his harness after he is hooked up.
