I have heard a few methods of correcting chewing. One is to put tabasco on your lines, or I soak them over night in jalapeno juice. Another is putting chain instead of necklines on your chewers. This to me sounds dangerous but I heard it works. You only have to put the chains on for a few runs then they decide to stop. I use a picket line next to my chute so that they don't have anytime to chew and if they try I am standing right there to catch them in the act. I have eliminated chewing before we take off but I still have a problem when I mush somewhere and stop. Not on the trail though but when I stop at someone's house. I could use some pointers on that. Its just my yearlings though because they aren't tired yet.I figure after I put them in a race or two they'll learn how to rest like the rest of the dogs. But in the meantime I'm going through my 500 foot roll of line pretty quickly.
