One time I took one of my pups for a loose run like that and he tore the pads off all four feet. I had to tie him up in the woods & come & get him with the truck. The only thing we could attribute it too is that we were going too fast. He healed up in a couple of weeks and when we started fall training a month later he never had any problems. He turned out to be a top notch dog, but when I take my pups out now I make sure that I keep the speed down. I don't know if this is why his feet tore, but they never were a problem at pulling speed.
