If you want to participate in the politics of this situation, I'd suggest that you DON'T call Fish & Game. Call the "Department of Military and Veterans Affairs" instead. It may seem strange, but the governor put THEM in charge of aiding the subsistence families living along they Yukon (and other places) in his July 19, 2000 "Declaration of Disaster Emergency". The department's director has the authority to draw funds from each state department's disaster fund to help those affected by the salmon disaster. THEN contact the Environmental Protection Agency and ask them how the much-lauded Fish & Game maintenance program could have allowed the Yukon River salmon levels to get so low. The first (DMVA) is probably the best short term solution... The second (EPA) is probably the best long term solution ...
