We are not rich monetarily either, but life style, oooh so rich. We live in this fantastic country surrounded by majestic mountains, family, wonderful people, and a yard full of great dogs. What more could a person ask for. I feel as rich as Rockefeller. Wish I could afford to buy a new pair of shoes. I agree it's not the native way of life we should be upset with, but the papers way of handling it.
Hope you find homes for the dogs you can't use. We found early on it was much easier to just not take anything that we didn't know would be good. Too many people want to dump their dogs on you when they find out you are a musher. It doesn't happen so often any more although we did have someone try to give us one the other day. We said NO! If we find ourselves short a dog or two we borrow some yearlings from a larger kennel for the year. It gets us through the winter & hopefully by the next year we have the means to get what we need.
