Congratulations on your new puppies. Sounds like the mother dog rules the roost around your place. My last litter was born in the house because it was the middle of winter. She delivered her pups with her head in my lap. I love watching the miracle of birth whether it be canine, equine, or human. We put them outside when they were about 4 days old, after we did their dew claws, and put one of those dog heating pads in with them. It worked great. In fact I had to turn the heating pad on low or it was too hot.

I kind of liked having winter pups because then you have all summer to play with them and when you start running dogs in the fall they are old enough to train. I keep them in their own team so they are not getting pressured by the big dogs. We have to keep them at a slower pace.

I too wish it would stop raining, but I'm not ready for snow yet. The biggest problem we are running into is that there is no local straw as it rained to much to cut it. Outside straw is soo expensive, but that may be all we get.

I just talked to one of those musher that I know have been affected by the lack of salmon for the last couple of years. They are thinking of thinning their dog lot down. Really if you have any money at all this may be a really good time to pick up some really nice dogs for practically nothing. These people are used to feeding their dogs fish and then all of a sudden slim pickings on the fish. I think they were hoping the fish would return, but now they're thinking that may not happen and it would be best to thin their lot down.
