Hi Cariad
The dogs used there were literally from all over the north country. Chinooks were used, Greenlanders, Norwegina, Russian , and Siberians. I doubt there were many northern breeds not represented. Each country had its own 'flavor' they wanted to use, the English used a lot of Norway's dogs . Somne twenty years or so there was a international conference down there and they decided to bar all dogs from the continent in order not to bring in any disease, a real " DUH !! " as for close to a hundred years dogs had been brought in and taken all over long before any vaccines of any kind were developed for dogs, so the contamination they were thinking to prevent had long time happened, quite thoroughly. I would be that tests could be done a hundred years from now and find viable disease spores. Sic semper committe-itis.
