My $.02 First, keep in mind the humidity... a humid 50 degree day (usually clouded over) may be harder for dogs to run in than a warmer temperatureon a clear day.
Second.... a lot of people do a lot of different things, but look at your dogs and what they can do, and the terrain. Sounds like a mile or mile and a half is what you should be doing the first few runs. Personally, I'd rather start early with low miles and get a lot of hook ups, and successful runs for ALL my dogs than start later with longer runs, making it harder for the weaker members of my team. I'm sure you know the rule... 'just have fun' in august:) Good luck
