Antarctic Dogs

I have seen, on video, the Antarctic dogs and have seen 2 stuffed ones and read the journal of one of the dog keepers and to me they look a lot like the Alaskan Husky. Does anyone know where the original Antarctic dogs came from? Were they Alaskans?
