Conditions:

Near Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada, February 9, 2002, the 8th Annual Northland Lumber Dog Derby was another success. The race was 25 miles long and consisted of six dog teams. Light snow, temperatures rising to zero C, and a flat {except for the 6-foot waterfall} but winding trail on the Whitefish River from Nolalu to Stanley, Ontario made for an exciting race.

This year Will Evans, who normally assures all the mushers that the 6 foot drop 1.6 KM into the race is really easy, crashed and broke his sled but still managed to come in 11th place. Now we know that there is 3/4 pound of burger in a Stanley Tavern burger but nobody could convert this well as there were one to many Americans at this fun race.
