SDC: 2001 Pelican Bay Youth Challenge Results

Trail had to be moved from the lake to a woods trail, resulting in a shorter trail than originally planned.

Mushers came from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin and all of them said the enjoyed the "new" trail.
Over 100 prizes were donated by generous businesses for the race participants and the kids enjoyed the selection process.
A $50 L.L.Bean gift certificate was presented as the Sportsmanship Award in honor of Cassandra Brandon.
Cassie died last Easter in an accident and she was greatly missed as a musher in this race.
The award was given to Ann Fisher for helping Luke Walker with his team when one of his dogs escaped during a bad tangle in the 4 Dog Class.

Much thanks to the town of Orr for their support of the race and to the five families that organized the race:
Glass's, Redmonds, Fisher, Hazen/Holmes and Chapmans. The event next year will be even larger.
