Several people commented on how fast the trail was. Our timekeeper got to Angel Creek just in time to meet the first team in (don’t know who that was, however). Light snow fell throughout most of the race period, and the temperature was good for dog running.  The trail was the usual one, though it is much improved since the December Henry Hahn because of the snow we’ve had since then.

Kevin Lupo was the winner, running the course in just under two hours and averaging 15.6 miles per hour.  Whit Hicks of Delta Junction finished second.  Henry Hahn 200 winner, Jessica Hendricks finished third.

Didn’t hear of any injuries to dogs or humans.  All teams made it in safely. Club president Bill McKee was given a hard time for missing the final Top 10 spot by only 13 seconds to neighbor/friendly rival Mike Green.

The Hamburger Run was a bonus race put on by the club since the Tune-up didn’t happen back in November because of poor trail conditions.  It was called the Hamburger Run because, well, all the mushers were fed hamburgers at Angel Creek Lodge.

No cash prizes, just a selection of goods from Cold Spot Feeds, a big sponsor of our club.

Our next race is the Jenny M Hillraiser on Saturday, Feb. 17.  It will start at Valley Center, run around the Two Rivers trails, up and down Jenny M Hill and finish back at Valley Center. Information will be available at Cold Spot Feeds, or by calling 488-5320 or 488-3749.
