Jim.
Is the Friday night meeting the only driver's meeting for the weekend? I wish it were on Sat. as I'd planned. I know that Tony Wolf doesn't know about it as of the last time I spoke with him yesterday. He doesn't use the computer a lot so couldn't have seen any additions of info. I just left them a phone message and I hope they get it.

Sorry to duck out, but two (out of three!!) dogs came down with some sort of bug last week (some vomiting and diarrhea, very low energy, they could barely run three miles.... it's cleared up in one of them, but my leader is still recovering). So, my team is out of action for the time being. I'm giving them a week off to see if it gets better.

My apologies. Kind of is a pain to put in so much training, only to have some mysterious sickness take the wind out of their sails! They still want to run, but they just get really tired within a mile or so. Plus, I don't want to give them the added stress of a long car ride, and then going to a new place with lots of commotion. I'll definitely be coming for next year's race, though!

I forgot to ask:

On the entry form, where it asks for ISDRA #

Is that required? I am not a member of ISDRA. It may happen at some point, but at the moment, this being my rookie year and all, I'm just trying to see if the dogs and I like this sport (okay, the dogs love it!).

Thanks!

Doug

Minnie I talked with Tony on Sunday at Boyne about Whitetails so I know he knows. We do it Friday so that its one less thing to do on Sat. If you cant make it dont worry just have somebody grab your bib. We should reach a 100 teams sitting at 80 as of yesterday would be nice to get to 120.......Doug no you dont have to have a ISDRA # sorry to hear about the sick dogs we just had one go down with a tendon its not good so I can feel your pain.

Everybody have a safe trip

Thanks for the driver's meeting info Jim. If I can I'll make it. If I can't can I pick up the bib on Saturday? Where? I don't really know anyone well enough to bother them to pick mine up! The Senior Classic will be close to or the last race, right? Is there a plan yet for approximate time classes will run?
Do I need to be there early when the first teams go out? I'm happy to but if I don't need to, I might come a bit later. I don't know how things are done yet! Am looking forward to all the fun, watching good teams run and running my guys for a 'real fun run'. Mini

You can pick up your bib any time at the office in the civic center. The Senior Classic will be the last to go for the day, unsure of a time yet, we are still getting entries. You can come anytime, parking may be an issue if you come later. You won't want to miss the unlimited class going out, it is quite spectacular!

Mini ran at Kalkaska on Wed. PM

I am looking at my back yard today Thursday(Bellaire-30mi from Kalkaska) and see way more melt than I would like. Remember that I am doing weight pull and while conditions are not so necessay for us as the sled dogs it is not good to see these temps just now.
I ran at LCK Wed. 10AM and the snow was punchy, by 1pm it was sticky in Kalk. as well.
Today? Lots of concern here for the warm temps. I hope that we get the expected snow Friday to freshen up the sticky, icy snow.

The trail will be fine!!! George has put a lot of time into it and feels it can handle a couple warmer days. Since the trail has been gone over so many times the ground beneath it is frozen hard.

Kalkaska was a wonderful event! In my 52 years of racing I have not seen a better prepared trail that was so well packed (for months) that the warm weather did not have ANY effect on the trail surface. I ran in the 8-dog class (early in the morning, and the four dog por and senior classic at the very end of the day, and was impressed just how little change occurred in the trail conditions. Everyone involved should be congratulated. A wonderful event. Thank you all who worked this event.

I just want to thank everyone who came to the race. We could not have done it without Jason Rodenhouse and Bill and Bud Lewis. This was one of the best trails Kalkaska has ever had. Thanks George
