Can anyone help me? My brother and I are wanting to move to Alaska next year and were going to be homesteading but were not sure what the laws on it are or what we need to do in order to find a place to call home. I want to get back into mushing and my brother wants to start his cooking career up north.

Unfortunately, there is no longer homesteading in Alaska. That practice, where the Federal government offered "free" land if you developed and lived on the property for a certain amount of time, ended in the 1980s. You will have to purchase land if you want a place of your own. The State of Alaska does sell some land at relatively low cost:
