It was solid plastic. I have another piece on the sled right now, the same size. It is 3/4 of an inch thick, 1 1/2 wide. The trails twist and turn abruptly, and are very hilly, so because of the hills I run no less than 8 dogs and usually 10 dogs. Alot of power when you hit a tree almost straight on. I thought about using a piece of hollow steel bent in the V-shape, does the steel work well? any problems other than getting bent? I would rather have a bent bow than one sticking out a foot from where it was attached to the front of the runner.
