Thank you, RN for sharing all of the information re: Ivermectin. I have a few "musher" friends that use the horse paste, and so far three of their dogs have gotten heartworm. We have used the liquid (cattle!) ivermectin for 14 years on our huskies, but only for heartworm prevention. I have one borzoi/husky mix that I've given it to for 6 years with no ill effects. I am lucky to have a Vet that works with me and helps me to aquire the Ivermectin. He did say that some studies have shown that overdosing is believed to cause sterility in some dogs, and does not recommend that I give it to my pregnant bitches.
