We invite friends over with their teams and have "fun runs" and one of the things we do is practice passing. We also train our dogs to run "on by" and go past whatever distractions may be along the trail. MOST of the time they will ignore just about anything..but the younger inexperienced dogs always seem to want to "visit". We belong to a mush club that has rig weekends so that everyone has a chance to practice passing, etc. before the races start, and have found these to be very helpful. If you can find someone to "play" with, have them help you with passing...they may need to encourage your dogs to keep moving for you by pushing them away and telling them "on by!" Good luck. p.s. be happy that you have nice dogs that only want to "VISIT"...in my first race, first pass, the other team leaped onto my dogs looking for a fight. My dogs were so bewildered they tried to turn back to the starting chute!! Not even a mile from the starting chute and I have my first pass, tangle & fight...God, I love this sport!
