We have the same weather problems here...one day we can use the rig, tww days with sled, then back to the rig. Our rig is rather heavy and wide, which makes it unsafe on our wooded narrow trails, so we have to run on the gravel roads around here when the snow melts. We much prefer to use the sleds, but so far this season we've had three days of good snow, then ice...now its all melted. We did get some freezing rain last night and about 2" of snow (heavy & wet) When the dogs (or us) get bored, we usually invite a couple of our mushing friends over and run with them, practice passing, etc. Sometimes we drive to the north and run on the logging roads in the National forest for a change. The dogs always seem to perk up on new trails. We also try to spend more "fun" time with the dogs...some of our dogs like to play soccer, and the dogs who don't try to play "keep away"..they also enjoy just sitting around with us in the kennel, being groomed and fussed over. A nice big knuckle bone also keeps them occupied for a few days. If we have one or two dogs that seem depressed, we'll bring them in the sled shop, or the house for a while, and take them for a walk or for a visit with grandma & grandpa and their little ankle nippers. We have Siberians, and they seem to maintain a really good attitude, but once in a while they seem to be tired of the same ol-same ol. These are the things we've used to keep them interested.
