O.K. its 57 degrees and raining here in west Michigan...so the trails are icy and I need to know if anyone has tried Ken Bruckners "sure grip" runners? I spoke to him a few months ago, and they sounded like a good ida, but haven't found anyone that has tried them. He claims that they are like a hollow-ground skate blade on the runners, and will track behind the team on glare ice in high winds. After the fiasco yesterday on a morning run,(my partner dumped his sled three times, and his face was badly scratched) I am very interested in knowing if anyone has tried them and how they like them...Or if you have any advice for running on narrow, icy ,winding, hilly trails in the "woods". I have a fear of my dogs being hurt, so normally do not run much in icy conditions...but I've heard that most races do not cancel for ice. This is my second season racing, (sprint) and tho a race is not worth injuring my dogs, if there is something I can do to lessen the chance of anyone being hurt I would appreciate knowing. Does anyone use chains on their runners? Do they work? I hope to get into mid-distance races and realize that we need experience in all conditions...but so far this ice is the worst!! (It's supposed to snow tomorrow evening !! YIPEE!!) Thanks.
